IWG and Virginia Lottery Introduce ‘eDraw’ Style Game

New digital game merges classic lotto mechanic with jackpot top prize

Instant Win Gaming (IWG), a leading supplier of eInstant games to NASPL/WLA-member lotteries, congratulates the Virginia Lottery on the launch of Lotto Virginia, the United States lottery industry’s first on-demand, digital-only lotto game featuring a progressive jackpot top prize.

Lotto Virginia offers a nostalgic lotto experience in a modern digital format to players across the commonwealth. The gameplay is a 6/42 draw matrix. Players can purchase up to four tickets for each draw. Six matching numbers wins the top jackpot prize. The Virginia Lottery previously offered a retail draw game named Lotto Virginia with a similar playstyle.

Lotto Virginia is powered by InstantJackpots, IWG’s progressive jackpots engine that has been deployed in more than 75 eInstant launches over the past two years. Lotto Virginia, including its InstantJackpots prizing, is entirely integrated within IWG’s InstantRGS (remote game server). This allowed the Virginia Lottery to launch the game without any development assistance at the iLottery platform level.

“Kudos to the Virginia Lottery for continuing to innovate within its iLottery portfolio,” the North America Vice-President for IWG, Jason Lisiecki, said. “An on-demand draw game with a progressive jackpot grand prize will help expand the Virginia Lottery’s online player base. I’m thrilled about this launch, as it appeals to a traditional lotto audience and showcases the wide capabilities of our progressive jackpot game lineup.”

“This game has ‘lotto’ potential,” the Strategic Games Manager for the Virginia Lottery, Scott Kenyon, said. “Lotto Virginia plays an important role in our content acquisition strategy as it can potentially introduce draw game players to our eInstant games. Whenever one of our draw games has a jackpot run, we see a surge in new iLottery registrations. Now we can offer these players a familiar playstyle and brand but in a digital-only eInstant format. It’s a natural next step for our iLottery product mix and we look forward to seeing how it performs with our players.”

Bede Gaming awarded NASPL Associate Membership

Pioneering iGaming technology company becomes the latest member of North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries trade group, reinforcing its commitment to advancing the lottery sector through innovative digital solutions

Bede Gaming, the data-driven iGaming technology provider known for its market leading software and full-service platform solutions, announced this month that it has officially joined the prestigious North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries trade group as an Associate Member.

NASPL is the largest trade association in the lottery space, representing 53 state and provincial lottery members throughout North America. The group plays a pivotal role in advocating for lottery organisations on matters of general policy and best practice, while also leveraging collaboration, communication, education, and information for the betterment of the industry.

“NASPL is pleased to have Bede Gaming as our newest Associate Member Partner; we look forward to collaborating this year and beyond with the goal of strengthening our industry.” Jake Coy, Director of Partner Relations, NASPL.

Reflecting on the company’s new NASPL membership, Colin Cole-Johnson, Chief Executive Officer at Bede Gaming, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to be joining NASPL as an Associate Member. As a company that’s passionate about supporting lottery customers in achieving their digital transformation goals, this membership provides an opportunity for us to further demonstrate our capabilities and do so in alignment with the highest industry standards.

“Bede is looking forward to working closely with NASPL members and partners to learn about the challenges that they face. Our goal is to explore how our pioneering platform technology can best support their needs, while also contributing to the broader advancement of the lottery industry.”

The NASPL ’25 Annual Conference and Tradeshow this month presents the first opportunity for Bede to do precisely that, with many NASPL members attending, including event host and current Bede partner, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).

As existing members of both the World Lottery Association and European Lotteries, Bede holds a strong commitment to supporting the future of the industry through innovative digital solutions. In the North American market, this is exemplified by the company’s ongoing successful partnership with OLG, which was a key factor in the decision to pursue NASPL membership and a move that was wholeheartedly supported by the provincial lottery.

“Bede has been a trusted partner to OLG for five years, providing us with innovative products and technical solutions that continue to enhance the digital lottery experience for our players in Ontario,” confirmed Andrew Darley, VP of iCasino and iLottery at OLG. “We were happy to recommend them for this esteemed membership and believe that by joining NASPL, they’ll now have the perfect platform to showcase how their expertise can assist the industry going forward.”

Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.80 Billion, Second Largest in History

Published

on

The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.80 billion ahead of Saturday night’s drawing, officially making it the second-largest Powerball jackpot in U.S. history.

The jackpot has been building since June 1, when a single ticket in Michigan claimed $224 million. In the 37 drawings since, no player has matched all six numbers — the most drawings ever in a single jackpot run — sending the prize pool into historic territory. It is the first time Powerball has reached this level since November 2022, when a California player won $2.04 billion.

“This jackpot is truly a historic moment in lottery history. At $1.80 billion, this Powerball run has already set records for longevity and now ranks as the second-largest prize ever. At Jackpot.com, we’re excited to help players across the country take part in a truly unforgettable moment.”

Jackpot.com allows customers to digitally order official state lottery tickets and scratch offs. Through the Jackpot.com platform, lottery players can place orders for their favorite games, choose their lucky numbers, and get notified if they win. Winnings under $600 are automatically deposited into customer accounts, while winning tickets over $600 are sent to the winners to be redeemed at lottery redemption centers. The service is available now in Colorado, Massachusetts, Arkansas, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, and Arizona.

AGCO Removes Cap on Seller Commission for Charitable Lottery Products

Published

on

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has updated several lottery policies to remove the cap on seller commission for Paper Raffles and Media Bingo, along with removing the prohibition on Catch the Ace paper lotteries, to align with other charitable lottery products.

Licensed charities may now negotiate commissions directly with sellers and determine commissions, provided they are reasonable and tied to the cost of service provided by the seller.

These updates further the AGCO’s commitment to adopt an outcomes-based regulatory approach and reduce burden for the charitable gaming sector. Local charitable organizations will have greater flexibility to make decisions that best serve their fundraising objectives.

Important Reminders

• Charities must still receive approval for other expenses incurred under their licence and retain receipts for seller commission paid.

• Licensing authorities will not require documentation to be submitted as part of the application process, however, charities are still subject to audit to determine compliance.

• Charities are reminded of their legal requirement to meet their obligations under the Criminal Code and with respect to conducting and managing a charitable gaming scheme.

• As with all licensed charitable lottery events, charities must take the necessary steps to ensure that they are conducting and managing the lottery event within Ontario.

For charitable gaming-related inquiries, email an AGCO Eligibility Officer at [email protected] or call AGCO Customer Service at 1-800-522-2876, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
