Talking Stick Resort Named Best Casino in the 2024 Community Choice Awards by Azcentral.Com
Talking Stick Resort, an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), announced that it was named “Best Casino” in azcentral.com’s 2024 Community Choice Awards. The casino-resort was nominated along with three other casino properties in the Valley by the public as part of the East Valley, Best of the Desert portion of the awards program.
“For Talking Stick Resort to be recognized is a true honor and one that we deeply appreciate. The fact that this nomination came from the public makes it even more meaningful. It tells us that we are moving in the right direction and that our guests are enjoying what we offer,” said Ramon Martinez, Director of Public Relations for Casino Arizona and Talking Stick Resort.
The annual Community Choice Awards recognizes more than 600 businesses and organizations. Each business was nominated by the public until five nominees were selected in each category. Among the 220 categories include Beauty & Health, Dining, Shopping, Sports & Fitness, Entertainment & Leisure and many more. Nominees in each were divided among the East and West Valley competitions.
Voting then commenced by the public until the finalists and winners were ultimately selected. Winners were announced at an exclusive awards gala at the Omni Resort & Spa at Montelucia in June.
Talking Stick Resort’s Community Choice Award comes on the heels of great change at the popular resort. This year, the property unveiled an array of new added or renovated amenities. The new ultra-modern spaces include ARENA Poker Room, the largest in Arizona with 68 tables, the reimagined Showroom with intimate concert seating and 92 LED video screens and walls as well as a new sportsbook and lounges.

Konami Gaming CEO Steve Sutherland Awarded AGEM Memorial Award for Excellence in Commercial Gaming Professionalism
Konami Gaming’s President & Chief Executive Officer Steve Sutherland has received the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers’ (AGEM) 2024 Jens Halle Memorial Award during the official awards ceremony at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Las Vegas. He was selected for excellence in commercial gaming professionalism, as the embodiment of business success, attention to detail, evident humanity, willingness to “go the extra mile,” and long-lasting dedication to the health of the industry as a whole. Investing more than three decades of his career in the gaming supplier sector, Steve Sutherland is a central figure and longtime advocate in responsible gaming industry advancement.
“Throughout his entire career, Steve has been someone with an executive mindset who knows how to lead, manage, and operate a business at an extremely high level. He brought his knowledge from the technology industry into the gaming supplier sector and made a lasting impact on the companies he has led, all while helping mentor countless other commercial executives who now are themselves leaders of gaming supplier companies with global reach. He’s the real deal when it comes to our industry and epitomizes excellence in commercial gaming professionalism. Our supplier sector salutes Steve for all he continues to accomplish and happily presents this year’s Jens Halle award to him,” Bob Parente, chair of the board at AGEM, said.
The Jens Halle Memorial Award was established in 2015 by AGEM to acknowledge the lasting impact of longtime industry executive Jens Halle, following his unexpected passing. Steve Sutherland is the ninth honoree to receive this award since its inception. This recognition comes as Sutherland nears his 25th year at Konami Gaming, including seven years as president and chief executive officer.

Aristocrat Gaming Honored by Gaming Industry with Supplier of the Year, Best Slot, and Best Land-Based Product at the Global Gaming Awards Americas
At the annual Global Gaming Awards Americas, the industry awarded Aristocrat Gaming as the Land-Based Industry Supplier of the Year for the sixth consecutive year. The company was also recognized for Slot of the Year for the seventh year in a row for NFL Super Bowl Jackpots, and the MarsX Flex and Cyclone Sign Package was awarded Best Land-Based Product, the second time the company has received the recognition.

IGT Executive Shondra DeLoach-Perea Honored by Global Gaming Women with Patty Becker Pay it Forward Award
International Game Technology PLC announced that Shondra DeLoach-Perea, IGT Vice President Field Services, Call Centers and Technology Operations, has been named a recipient of Global Gaming Women’s (GGW) 2024 “Patty Becker Pay it Forward Award”. The annual award program honors women in the gaming industry who have contributed to GGW’s initiatives and helped support women in their organization and community.

In her current position, DeLoach-Perea oversees a global team that spans North America, Latin America, the Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
