TIPICO IS THE FIRST U.S. SPORTS BETTING OPERATOR TO RECEIVE ICAP ACCREDITATION FOR BEST PRACTICES IN ONLINE GAMBLING PLAYER PROTECTION

Tipico Sportsbook, a leading sports betting operator, today announced that it has earned Internet Compliance Assessment Program (iCAP) accreditation in New Jersey and Ohio for best practices in customer protection. Tipico is the first sportsbook in the United States to pursue and achieve this accreditation.
Administered by the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), iCAP accreditation is the highest standard for online gambling player protection in the U.S. The iCAP framework is based on the Internet Responsible Gambling Standards which guides operators to ensure that player protection remains at the forefront of operations.
In February 2024, Tipico launched the Fair Play Pledge, a first-of-its-kind, holistic long-term initiative that aligns closely with the standards set forth by iCAP. Notable feedback from the assessment highlighted several features embedded in the pillars of the Fair Play Pledge, including clear communication of odds and promotions, streamlined access to the Tipico Help Center, limits, and cool-off periods, and 24/7 human customer service. Tipico has also implemented a phase-based approach to recognize, help, and educate customers who have exceeded its âResponsible Gambling Automated Thresholds.â
âiCAP accreditation is a meaningful award for Tipico because it validates our approach to make fair play a companywide initiative that requires buy-in by our employees. I am incredibly proud of our team for rallying around our efforts to continuously improve safety and clarity,â said Bryan Schroeder, Senior Vice President – Compliance & Legal at Tipico. âOur primary goal is to ensure customers have the best possible experience when they place a bet because they trust us and our products.â
Achieving iCAP accreditation requires a thorough evaluation of company governance, customer support initiatives, employee training procedures, and efforts in research and education. The accreditation is valid through March 2026.
As part of the accreditation, an audit of Tipicoâs Responsible Gaming practices was conducted by Gambling Integrity, one of the industryâs leading consultancies. The audit praised the development of the Fair Play Pledge and its place in âkeeping with the spirit of the iCAP.â
âTipico Sportsbook’s iCAP accreditation is a testament to their dedication to player protection. Through this achievement, Tipico showcases exemplary leadership and a commitment to responsible gambling best practices,â added Keith Whyte, NCPG Executive Director. âWe commend Tipico for the unwavering commitment to the safety of their users and for setting an exemplary standard for the industry.â

Statement from NYSGC Chair OâDwyer Regarding Casino Applicants

NYSGC Chair OâDwyer has released the following statement regarding casino applicants.
âOn behalf of my fellow Commissioners and the Gaming Facility Location Board, I welcome the eight applicants to Develop and Operate a Gaming Facility in New York State to the competition. The Commission and Board are committed to ensuring the casino siting process is fair, transparent, competitive, deliberative, and beneficial for the State of New York.
âThis is a tabula rasa â there are no frontrunners or favorites. These eight proposed projects represent billions of dollars in private investment, thousands of jobs, and amenities in addition to a world-class casino â all things that can transform a community. Thatâs why each project must obtain all local entitlements, including zoning approval, and be approved by a specific Community Advisory Committee of appointees of the elected officials representing the proposed facilityâs location. Only those projects that meet both statutory requirements â zoning and Community Advisory Committee approval â by September 30, 2025 will be considered by the Gaming Facility Location Board. This ensures that only those projects embraced by the community are placed before the Board for consideration.
âAppointing authorities for all eight projects have been notified of their obligation to make appointments to the Community Advisory Committees as soon as possible, as Committees are expected to be up and running in the coming weeks. Through the summer, Committees will hold public hearings to gauge support and/or opposition to their respective project, and formally vote whether to advance the project for Board evaluation. Those projects that are not approved by their Community Advisory Committee will not advance.
âThe Board will evaluate those projects approved by their Community Advisory Committee and select up to three projects by December 1, followed by Commission licensure. This ensures that New York State will collect the already-booked casino license fee(s) ahead of schedule.
âAs the Board has stated in the Request for Applications, the revenue from new gaming facilities is expected to benefit New Yorkâs public schools, mass transit, local governments, and problem gambling treatment services. The jobs created by these casinos are expected to deliver livable wages to help families live, stay, and prosper in New York.
âWe look forward to a competitive process with active community engagement for all proposals.â
