Kentucky Lottery Fuels 10 More Years of Education Funding with Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership
Scientific Games and the Kentucky Lottery will continue a successful Scratch-Off game management partnership for another decade, driving maximum funding for Kentucky college scholarships. While Scientific Games has served as the Kentucky Lotteryâs primary Scratch Off game provider since 1989, the Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership program with the Kentucky Lottery began in 2018 and has propelled the Kentucky Lottery to one of the top 20 performing instant game lotteries in the world. The SGEP program helped responsibly grow Kentucky Lottery Scratch Offs to a more than $940 million product category, entertaining players and benefiting students in the state.
Mary Harville, Kentucky Lottery President and CEO, said: âThe Kentucky Lottery is always looking for new and exciting games to offer our players and retailers, and the Lotteryâs continued partnership with Scientific Games will ensure we are doing just that. Creative and top-performing Scratch Offs bring the players into retailers, which in turn helps the Kentucky Lottery increase our revenues each year. This allows us to fund the many scholarships for Kentuckyâs students and families. We look forward to working with Scientific Games to carry out this mission in the years ahead.â
SGEP is used by some of the worldâs top-performing instant game lotteries, including five of the top six in the US. Driven by data analytics and patented technologies, the program optimizes the Kentucky Lotteryâs Scratch Offs through portfolio management and optimization, game design services, advanced logistics, licensed brand services, digital services and retail sales and marketing support. SGEP drove 31% better performance for U.S. lotteries using the program in fiscal year 2023-24 (MAP weekly per capita sales).
John Schulz, President of Americas and Global Instant Products for Scientific Games, said: âThe Kentucky Lottery has always taken an innovative, collaborative approach to growing its Scratch Off product category, and moving to the SGEP program was a very strategic business decision. Our partnership has proven to be highly successful, keeping the product pipeline flowing with exciting and innovative games to Kentucky Lottery retailers and players and protecting funding for scholarships for Kentucky students.â
Since 1999, the Kentucky Lottery has funded more than $5 billion in scholarships and grants for Kentuckyâs students and families. In addition, the partnership with Scientific Games has generated more than $1.6 billion in commissions to the Lotteryâs network of 3500 retailers.
Scientific Games also provides the Lottery with licensed properties, including the sell-out ELF-themed holiday games and an award-winning digital customer relationship management program, which successfully drives omnichannel player engagement and retention for the Kentucky Lotteryâs retail and iLottery.

IBIA and PFA Canada anti-match-fixing education program concludes in Alberta
CPL first to benefit from CA$300,000 education fund commitment by IBIAâs regulated sports betting operators
Canadian Premier League (CPL) soccer teams have successfully completed a sports betting integrity player education program. Designed by the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) using its 3Râs training model, the program has utilised a combination of dedicated in-person training and online resources, with sessions delivered by the Professional Footballersâ Association Canada (PFA Canada) through its Protecting the Integrity of the Game workshops.
In total, nearly 200 players have been trained by the IBIA/PFA Canada partnership at all eight CPL teams through the program, which started in Ontario and finished in Alberta, also covering teams in Nova Scotia, Manitoba and British Colombia. It concludes the first part of a two-year player education agreement between IBIA and PFA Canada.
Marco Carducci, Cavalry FC & President of PFA Canada, said: âThe IBIA sports betting integrity training, in partnership with PFA Canada, was an incredibly beneficial experience for our players. Effective and easy-to-understand, it made clear what professional athletes need to know about sports betting integrity and how to report attempted corruption. We are grateful for IBIA’s support to help safeguard the integrity of the game and to protect and educate our players.â
In addition to highlighting the potential threats from sports betting related match-fixing, the program educated players on rules and sanctions, the scale and accuracy of technology enabled sports integrity monitoring, and how to report criminals and corrupters using the red button app.
Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA said: âWe take our responsibility to protect regulated sports betting markets, sports and athletes seriously. Decades of experience has shown that a combination of efficient regulation, education and collaboration are essential to safeguarding the sports integrity ecosystem. We are delighted that the PFA Canada education program has been so successful and look forward to year two of the project.â
Dan Kruk, Executive Director, PFA Canada, said: âThrough our work with IBIA, nearly 200 Canadian Premier League players attended PFA Canadaâs Protecting the Integrity of the Game workshop this season. As a result, stakeholders can be confident our members know their obligations regarding gambling and match-fixing in their sport, how to recognize an approach to fix a match, and crucially, their duty to report any person attempting to manipulate a match.â
The program is the first to be delivered from a CA$300,000 three-year fund â invested by IBIA and its members bet365, Betway and FanDuel â from which Canadian sports and athletes can receive free face-to-face integrity education designed to protect Canadian sports from the potential threat of match manipulation and corruption.
