Gaming Innovation Group signs Head of Terms with established Ontario land-based operator

Gaming Innovation Group Inc. (GiG), has signed a Head of Terms agreement with an established Ontario land-based operator, to provide its award winning Platform, Sportsbook and proven OMNI channel solution in the Canadian province.

Powered by its leading technology and flexible architecture, this latest announcement follows a growing trend of operators choosing GiG to drive their brand in Ontario, following two successful, recently launched sites and the upcoming launch of another new partnership reported earlier this year.

GiG will drive the digital transition with its turnkey solution, including the technical platform, OMNI solution, Frontend, CMS and Sportsbook, all powered by GiG’s unique data and GiG Logic rules based solutions.

It is anticipated that the full contract will be signed in the next months, with go live projected to be in H1 2023.

Having opened as recently as April 2022, Ontario is an attractive proposition for operators looking to access a market that is expected to grow to €2bn in gross gaming revenue (GGR) over the next three years, according to H2 Gambling Data.

Ben Clemes, GM of GiG North America, said: “I am really excited to sign the head of terms with a land-based partner that has been successfully operating in the Ontario market for many decades. Their land-based presence gives GiG the opportunity to showcase the power of our proven OMNI solution alongside our full product catalogue including Casino, Sports and our Frontend solution.

New AGA Report Shows Americans Gamble More Than Half a Trillion Dollars Illegally Each Year

New AGA Report Shows Americans Gamble More Than Half a Trillion Dollars Illegally Each Year

Americans gamble an estimated $511 billion each year with illegal and unregulated sportsbooks, iGaming websites and so-called “skill games,” according to a new report from the American Gaming Association.

This illegal wagering robs state governments of $13.3 billion in tax revenue annually, nearly $2.5 billion more than legal operators generated in 2021 ($11.7 billion). It also costs the legal gaming industry $44.2 billion in annual revenue, or nearly half of the $92 billion in combined commercial and tribal revenue in 2021.

“Illegal and unregulated gambling is a scourge on our society, taking advantage of vulnerable consumers, skirting regulatory obligations and robbing communities of critical tax revenue for infrastructure, education and more,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller. “We have always known that the illegal and unregulated market is expansive, but this report illuminates just how pervasive it is.”

Sports Betting Findings

AGA’s report estimates that Americans wager $63.8 billion with illegal bookies and offshore sites at a cost of $3.8 billion in gaming revenue and $700 million in state taxes. With Americans projected to place $100 billion in legal sports bets this year, these findings imply that illegal sportsbook operators are capturing nearly 40 percent of the U.S. sports betting market.

While the numbers are significant, they also demonstrate Americans’ movement to the regulated market with legal sports betting’s expansion to 36 states and the District of Columbia.

The report also found that 49 percent of past-year sports bettors have placed a bet with an illegal operator. Previous AGA research shows that more than half of Americans that bet on sports with illegal operators believe they are wagering legally.

iGaming Findings

Americans wager an estimated $337.9 billion with illegal iGaming websites, with a loss of $3.9 billion in state tax revenue. With $13.5 billion in estimated revenue, the illegal iGaming market in the U.S. is nearly three times the size of the legal U.S. iGaming market, estimated to be $5 billion in 2022.

With iGaming only legal in six states, nearly half of Americans (48%) that have played online slots or table games in the past year have played with illegal online casinos.

Unregulated “Skill Machine” Findings

Unregulated gaming machines also continue to proliferate, with an estimated 580,651 unregulated machines in the U.S. With 870,000 regulated machines in casinos and slot routes, that means 40 percent of all gaming machines in the U.S. are unlicensed.

Based on state regulatory data for similar machines, the operator win percentage on unregulated gambling machines is significantly higher than legal casino slot machines. During the past 12 months, slot machines in Nevada have a 7.16 percent win rate, compared to a nearly 25 percent estimated win rate for unregulated machines—demonstrating how unregulated machines take advantage of customers.

“All stakeholders—policymakers, law enforcement, regulators, legal businesses—must work together to root out the illegal and unregulated gambling market. This is a fight we’re in for the long haul to protect consumers, support communities and defend the law-abiding members of our industry.”

The study was conducted by The Innovation Group on behalf of the American Gaming Association and is based largely on a survey of 5,284 U.S adults, examining their past-year gambling behaviors with both legal and illegal operators as well as their observations of unregulated gaming machines. It also incorporates publicly available data on the size of the legal U.S. gaming market and certain state gaming machine markets.

  • Commercial or tribal casino gaming is legal in 36 states, iGaming is legal in six states, and sports betting is legal is 36 states and Washington, D.C.
  • AGA’s State of Play Map provides a state-by-state look at legal, regulated gaming in the U.S.
  • StopIllegalGambling.com provides additional resources for consumers, industry stakeholders and media to raise awareness on the importance of eliminating illegal gambling and bolster efforts to combat illegal operators.

DraftKings and DWG build upon New Jersey success with Michigan launch

DraftKings and DWG build upon New Jersey success with Michigan launch

Design Works Gaming, the studio behind some of the best-performing games in regulated US markets, has continued its push into Michigan by launching content in the state with DraftKings.

DraftKings players in Michigan can now experience leading DWG titles, including Double Fancy 7s and 10X Fortune, via Light and Wonder’s OpenGaming platform.

The news comes hot on the heels of DWG’s September 2022 launch with DraftKings in New Jersey.

DWG CEO Troy Zurawski said: “DraftKings is one of the initial innovators of the US interactive market and they have carefully constructed a competitive, exciting ecosystem for their players. The fact that their team has prioritized bringing DWG titles to every market as fast as possible really speaks to the quality of our content and how it resonates with their players.”

DWG was granted a license to provide its games to operators in the state of Michigan by the Michigan Gaming Control Board in October 2021.

At the time Zurawski said: “We’re serious about transforming online casino content in the US, and that means taking our games into all regulated jurisdictions across the country.”

Leading US Brand Johnsonville Announced Results of First Intrinsic In-Game Ad Campaign with GumGum and Frameplay

Leading US Brand Johnsonville Announced Results of First Intrinsic In-Game Ad Campaign with GumGum and Frameplay

GumGum, a contextual-first, global digital advertising platform, along with Frameplay, the global leader in enabling intrinsic in-game advertising, partnered earlier this year to provide contextually relevant and brand-safe creative advertising units to be utilised across Frameplay’s intrinsic in-game advertising ecosystem.

Johnsonville, the most popular sausage brand in the United States, is committed to continuous development on its advertising strategies and was eager to enter the critical in-game advertising industry. With GumGum and Frameplay, Johnsonville targeted gamers playing in sports, casual and simulation games on mobile devices with simple, standout creative ads that did not disrupt gameplay and enhanced the gaming experience.

Johnsonville’s first intrinsic in-game campaign outperformed industry standards and saw incredible success in mobile ad recall with 56% of gamers remembering the ads and a lift of almost 14 points in purchase intent. Both results are quadruple the industry average. Additional results showed success such as “fit as a game sponsor” (23 point lift), “brand sponsorship of a game” (40 point lift) and “Johnsonville is a family-owned company” (22 point lift).

“Intrinsic in-game advertising offered us the opportunity to reach millions of gamers and we’re thrilled at the results of our initial four-week campaign with GumGum and Frameplay. We truly believe that the future of digital advertising will be immersive and contextually relevant. Intrinsic in-game advertising achieves both, and it’s clear that this advertising strategy is one that is teetering on the verge of a mass industry adoption,” said  Stephanie Plehn, Marketing Communications Manager at Johnsonville.

Comscore conducted a brand lift study on behalf of GumGum and Frameplay to measure overall campaign performance for Johnsonville. The results of the campaign reinforce the power of intrinsic in-game ads for brand recall, awareness and purchase intent. Gamers positively react and show high levels of attention to intrinsic in-game ads that blend seamlessly into the gaming environment and don’t disrupt gameplay.

Additional results from Johnsonville’s campaign include:

  • Gamers were 35% more likely to remember Johnsonville after seeing the in-game ad
  • “I like to eat Johnsonville products when I’m with my favourite people” saw 26.3 point lift after a user viewed the in-game ad
  • Aligning with barbecue culture, Johnsonville saw a 22 point lift in “Johnsonville is a family-owned company”

“Digital environments are evolving at lightning speeds and advertisers must be willing to lean into meeting consumers where they are – brands that continue to wait to include intrinsic in-game advertising as part of their core marketing strategies will fall behind,” said GumGum CEO Phil Schraeder. “Contextually relevant, intrinsic in-game ads with simple and effective creative always results in increased attention. My question for brands and advertisers is, what are you waiting for?”

“Intrinsic in-game advertising is the future of digital advertising. Over 3 billion people play games every single day, and as digital environments become more immersive, advertisers will have to adapt to newer ad strategies and formats,” stated Frameplay CEO Jonathon Troughton. “Time and again, intrinsic in-game advertising has proven to be extremely effective and the results of our first campaign with Johnsonville prove its power yet again.”

Why Ozwin Casino is Budget-Gamers’ First Choice

Ozwin Casino is one of Australia’s largest operators, but it accepts players from all over the world. Ozwin casino has established itself as the best casino for budget gamers, with a low minimum deposit of $10 and a plethora of free bonuses available through the use of bonus codes.

Ozwin Casino’s $10 Minimum Deposit

Before we discuss why Ozwin is a budget-gamers first choice let’s just say that high rollers are more than welcome to join the Ozwin family. This online casino is the place where they can wager huge sums on 120+ slots and dozens of different types of virtual table games. Big-money gamblers have every right to hope for ginormous prizes as some of the games on this platform come with jackpots measured in millions of dollars.

All this, however, doesn’t mean budget gamers should stay away from Ozwin Casino. It’s quite the opposite! Ozwin casino is a minimum deposit casino and a great choice for those of you who don’t feel comfortable with betting large amounts of money. This means you can fund your Ozwin account with as little as $10. The large selection of slot machines will provide you with a decent chance of hitting a few wins.

However, there’s one important reason why our advice for new Ozwin players is to spend slightly more on their first couple of deposits. The thing is that this casino is giving away a spectacular 400% welcome bonus + 100 free spins to new customers who make a deposit of at least $20.

Ozwin Casino 400% Welcome Bonus on $20+ Deposits

New Ozwin players can get a fantastic welcome present from the online casino, which consists of a 400% match-deposit bonus and 100 free spins. The deal comes in the form of two separate bonuses, each bringing 200% up to $2000 and 50 free spins your way.

In order to grab this deal, you need to deposit at least $20. The sum isn’t too big, meaning that even budget gamblers can afford it. It’s just $10 more than the minimum deposit amount set by a majority of online gambling sites, Ozwin Casino included.

However, if you don’t feel like depositing money, it doesn’t mean you should give up on Ozwin Casino. It’s because this site also has some no-deposit bonus deals on the table.

Ozwin’s No-Deposit Bonuses for Budget Gamers

There are two separate Ozwin free bonuses available by using the link to get the bonus codes.  The first deal you can claim is the $20 no-deposit bonus and the second deal will give you 25 free spins. You can get the offers by typing in the Casinoshubs’ promo code after setting up your new Ozwin account. You will receive the bonus credits straight away, which you then need to bet 60 times to clear the wagering requirements. To do that, you can play any game from the pokies and slots collection of Ozwin Casino. These offers are available only for new customers who haven’t yet claimed any other bonuses.

Other Reasons Why You’d Love Gambling at Ozwin Casino

In addition to all the aforementioned bonuses, Ozwin Casino has a few other bonuses up for grabs. There’s the Pokie of the Month bonus, for example, through which you can get a 125% on your deposits, together with 30 free spins on a certain slot game – the game changes every month.

Then, there’s also the cashback scheme, which enables you to recuperate a portion of your gambling losses. You can get between 25% and 50% back in the form of a cashback bonus.

Apart from amazing bonuses, Ozwin Casino is great for many other reasons. First of all, this is a 100% legit gambling platform with a real operating license, issued by the gambling authority of Curacao. What this means is that you can trust this operator and that all of its games are fair. Further, this operator also does all it can to keep your personal data and your funds secure.

Ozwin Casino is also great for the number of banking methods it supports. Bank cards, e-wallets, cryptos – you can use all of those to make deposits/withdrawals on this platform. All transfers are safe and are processed quickly. Deposits are instant, while withdrawals usually take only a couple of hours to clear.

If you’re still not convinced that this is the right casino for you, you should also know that there are several hundred titles in the Ozwin Casino game library, meaning that fun is guaranteed.

Kahnawake challenging Ontario on iGaming

Kahnawake challenging Ontario on iGaming

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) has launched a constitutional challenge against iGaming Ontario and the Attorney General of Ontario over the provincial government’s unilateral changes to the way gaming is managed.

It says the changes are illegal and unconstitutional and is contesting Ontario’s re-interpretation of Section 207 (1) of the Criminal Code, which permits provinces to regulate single-event sports betting. MCK’s legal challenge asserts that iGaming Ontario is not “conducting or managing” the gaming that takes place on private operators’ sites. Instead, iGaming is allowing operators to conduct and manage themselves, subject to the payment of a portion of their revenues to Ontario.

MCK has facilitated, conducted, and safely regulated gaming activities on behalf of the Mohawks of Kahnawake for decades, and says this new regime ignores their expertise in the gaming sector, and will result in the loss of significant revenue to the community of Kahnawake.

The Notice of Application was filed in the Ontario Superior Court. Olthuis Kleer Townshend LLP is representing MCK.

MCK was a vocal opponent of C-218, the bill that became the legislation that changed the iGaming/sports betting landscape to the detriment of Indigenous People. The bill became law in June 2021, and opened the door to Ontario re-interpreting the management of the gaming sector.

As a result, in April 2022, iGaming Ontario (a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario) was able to launch its iGaming Framework, which includes single-event sports wagering and relies exclusively on private operators.

The MCK is concerned the Framework disregards the expertise and the rights of First Nations to operate and regulate safe and responsible gaming.

For the past 25 years, the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission has provided players with access to safe, well regulated, and responsible gaming. The MCK previously operated in Ontario through its wholly owned subsidiary, Mohawk Online Limited, but is not submitting to this new framework.

Consequently, it is being shut out of the Ontario market because of its unwillingness to participate.

“The plain facts are that Ontario’s actions are causing a significant loss of important revenues for our community. Until these actions were taken, we were operating legally, safely and successfully across Canada. To be shut out of Ontario – by far the largest province in Canada – will have devastating effects on a source of income that has supplemented programs and services in our community for the last two decades,” Ratsenhaienhs (elected Council Chief) Mike Delisle Jr.
