The Brazilian government has confirmed the appointment of Nelson Leitão Paes as the ‘acting secretary-general’ of SECAP, the body leading the development of Brazilian public policies for the food, electricity and lottery sectors. The appointment follows the resignation of Alexander Manoel in January.
The nomination of Leitão Paes has been approved by the Ministry of Finance of Brazil, thus enabling the transition to SECAP as temporary chief of its senior civil servant for trade-union relations.
Confirming Leitão Paes as Interim Secretary-General, SECAP has made no formal comment on the progress of creating a system for federal sports betting for Brazil, a core priority of its 2020 policy agenda.
