Legal Online Sports Betting Launches in New York
Four sportsbooks were ready when online sports betting officially went live this week on January 8. DraftKings, Rush Street Interactive, FanDuel, and Caesars Sportsbook took the first legal online wagers in the state.
These sportsbooks received licensing from the New York State Gambling Commission (NYSGC) after a long period following the legalizing bill passed online sports betting for NY in November. The logistics of New York Stateâs unique online sports betting laws meant that sportsbooks needed some time to meet regulatory standards. That struggle is in the past, and online sports betting is ready to write its first chapter in the Empire State.

New York is the fourth most populous state in the US, and many experts anticipate it to become one of the biggest online sports betting states in the coming years.
