CORE Arena at the Plaza Hotel & Casino to host free rodeo events during NFR
Proud to continue the western legacy in downtown Las Vegas, the Plaza Hotel & Casino will again serve as a hotel sponsor of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) and host numerous rodeo events, all free to attend, at its outdoor equestrian facility, the CORE Arena, Dec. 2-14. The imageDowntown Christmas Expo, a curated western wear shopping event also returns to the Plazaâs convention center, Dec. 5-14.
Rodeo events at the CORE Arena include:
- CRSNC Southwest Regional Super Ranch Sort â Dec. 2-4
- Patriot 3D pole bending and 4D barrel race â Dec. 5-7
- Hooey Junior Patriot â Dec. 8-14
- Rope for the Crown Breakaway â Dec. 6-8
- Junior Rope for the Crown Breakaway â Dec. 9-10
- Las Vegas Stars Tie-Down & Breakawayâ Dec. 9-11
The CORE Arena offers covered and uncovered equine stalls, including the largest stalls in the city. Coupled with 24-hour onsite security, the Plaza makes it easy for rodeo participants and enthusiasts to âkiss their horses goodnight,â knowing their animals will be safe while they enjoy their evening just steps away playing on the casino floor or eating a delicious steak dinner at Oscarâs steakhouse.
Other rodeo related events include RopeSmart Rope For The World Dummy Roping a free event that will be held in the entry hall of the Plazaâs third floor convention space, Dec. 12-14. And each night inside the Plazaâs showroom, NFR enthusiasts can attend a free NFR watch party, sponsored by American Hat. The family-friendly watch party starts at 5:30 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) and will offer nightly prizes and giveaways as well as special guest appearances. The Plaza will also offer free shuttle service to and from the NFRâs evening events at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Downtown Christmas Expo takes over the Plazaâs third floor convention space from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 5-14. The carefully curated shopping event features a diverse array of apparel and accessory designers, artisans, jewelers, and Western couture. With dozens of Western industry vendors, including its top makers and trend setters, the expo showcases exclusive looks and products. The Downtown Christmas Expo is free to attend and offers parking validation for shoppers.
After the Wrangler NFR Rodeo concludes each evening, guests can enjoy beer, craft cocktails, and live country rock bands at The Sand Dollar Downtown. There is no cover for the shows. Guests must be 21 years or older.
With multiple rodeo events at the CORE Arena as well as free viewing parties, live entertainment, the Downtown Christmas Expo, and complimentary shuttle service, the Plaza is an unparalleled destination for NFR.

Scientific Games Scores Deal with NBA for Lottery Scratch Games in US
Scientific Games continues to light up the companyâs licensed properties portfolio with another big win. National Basketball Association (NBA)-licensed instant scratch games are now available to U.S. lotteries through Scientific Games, bringing the fan-passionate brand of professional basketball to their players.
As part of the new, multi-year agreement, Scientific Games will work with U.S. lotteries to help create custom second-chance promotions and experiential prizes to amplify their NBA-themed scratch games. Lotteries can also work with local NBA teams in their states to create team-specific games through sponsorships.
The Massachusetts Lottery, perennially ranked No. 1 worldwide for instant scratch game sales, is the first to feature an NBA-branded scratcher under the Scientific Games agreement. The Lottery launched an NBA Champion Boston Celtics-themed game on November 19 with the 2024-25 NBA season in full swing. With total sales of $1.6 billion since the introduction of its first sports-themed ticket in 2006, the Mass Lottery is also ranked No. 1 in the U.S. for retail sales in this category.
âThe Celtics are one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports and we are thrilled to commemorate their most recent championship with a ticket that offers their passionate fanbase the opportunity to win up to one million dollars and a variety of experiential and merchandise prizes,â said Mark William Bracken, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery.

In fiscal year 2024, licensed branded games created by Scientific Games for North American lotteries represented USD $2.6 billion in retail sales.
