Hawks Talon Gaming Drop Two Games to NetsGC

Lee Lamb (LEE) Records Hawks Talon’s Lone Double-Double of the Evening During Second Game

On Thursday evening, Hawks Talon GC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, lost two games to NetsGC, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, by scores of 70-79 and 68-81. Hawks Talon will wrap up Week 4 on Saturday, June 19 with two games against Heat Check Gaming, the official NBA 2K League affiliate of the Miami Heat.

“NetsGC shot the ball very well tonight. It felt like for every shot that we made, they were ready to answer. They controlled the tempo all night long,” said Hawks Talon Head Coach Wesley Acuff. “We don’t have time to get too down on these outcomes as we have a great opportunity ahead of us with a rematch against Heat Check Gaming on Saturday. We will get back to practice tomorrow in hopes of repeating the success we had against them earlier this season.”

In the first game, Hawks Talon’s Caesar A. Martinez (CEEZ), the team’s 2021 first-round pick, led all scorers with 35 points and dished out a team-high seven assists. Returning to the lineup after last week’s absence was Lee Lamb (LEE) who added 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Thomas Batts (FAKIEE) contributed with 11 points, which marked his third consecutive performance scoring in double digits. Rounding out the group was Michael Diaz-Cruz (BP) with 10 points and Michael Swanegan (SWANN) who had one steal.

In the second game, CEEZ recorded 40 points and five assists, while LEE added to his franchise record for single-game double-double performances. He contributed with 14 points, a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with a game-high four steals. BP contributed with 10 points, while FAKIEE had four points, five rebounds and a game-high three blocks. Rounding out the group was SWANN with one rebound.

Hawks Talon (5-7) will conclude Week 5 with two games against Heat Check Gaming, the official 2K League affiliate of the Miami Heat, on Saturday, June 19 at 7 p.m. These games will be simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels.
