Fanatics Sportsbook and Cleveland Guardians Open Retail Sportsbook at Progressive Field
Fanatics Betting and Gaming, the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics Holdings Incorporated, a global digital sports platform, opened a retail sportsbook location in partnership with the Cleveland Guardians today at Progressive Field.
“We’re very excited to partner with Fanatics Betting and Gaming to bring a retail sportsbook location, its first in Major League Baseball, outside Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland,” the Vice-President of Corporate and Premium Partnerships for the Cleveland Guardians, Ted Baugh, said. “This will provide our fans a very convenient in-person option to place bets.”
Paul Shuey, former Cleveland Guardian pitcher, placed the ceremonial first bet at the brand-new Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field. Shuey, a University of North Carolina graduate and Cleveland’s first round pick in 1992 (2nd overall), placed a $20 moneyline bet (-135) on the University of North Carolina (football) to win its home opener against University of South Carolina on Sept 2, 2023.
“This is Fanatics Betting and Gaming’s first retail sportsbook at a Major League Ballpark,” the Chief Business Officer for Fanatics Betting and Gaming, Ari Borod, said. “We designed this location to complement our online sports betting app and usher in a brand-new sports betting experience with the most rewarding online sportsbook in Ohio, allowing customers to earn up to 5% back in FanCash on every bet.”
The Fanatics Sportsbook app is available for download on iOS and Android for sports fans living and visiting the state of Ohio. The Fanatics Sportsbook makes being a fan easy with fast sign-up, easy betting, transparent withdrawals, an industry-leading search functionality and a curated Discover page with the sports and bets that matter most to a customer.
The Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field is located outside the Right Field District Gate at the corner of Larry Doby Way and East 9th Street. The newly-designed sportsbook is nearly 600 square feet and features two betting windows, four self-service betting kiosks and seven television monitors. The Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field will offer legal betting markets for all major sports including professional and college football, basketball, hockey and baseball alongside tennis, soccer, golf, MMA and boxing. The development and trading of sports betting markets will be done in-house at Fanatics Betting and Gaming and supported by a number of world-class trading suppliers. Fans seeking to place an in-person bet will not require a Guardians game ticket to access the sportsbook.
Fanatics Betting and Gaming and the Cleveland Guardians believe that responsible gaming is a core tenet and a part of each company’s DNA. On-site staff at the Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field have received responsible wagering training and can offer support services to customers when needed.
The Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field will be open weekdays from 2pm to 8pm and weekends from 11am to 9pm. On game days, the Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field will be open two hours prior to first pitch and stay open through the conclusion of the game.

Neosurf & Betting Hero to reveal results of their in-depth study into US online gambling and payment habits in exclusive two-part webinar series
Neosurf, the globally trusted provider of swift and secure cash-to-digital payment solutions, has announced it will be sharing the findings of a recent study into the online betting habits, preferences and frustrations of US players in an exclusive two-part webinar series beginning on January 14th.
Neosurf commissioned the research via Betting Hero – a leading US-based iGaming portal with expertise in casino, sports betting and DFS. The webinars will see Neosurf CEO Americas, Sue Page, Betting Hero’s Co-Founder and President, Jai Maw, and Senior Director of Product and Research, Ernie Ropas, dive into the report’s key findings and discuss what some of the more surprising results could mean for operators.
The survey, which featured respondents from New Jersey, Colorado and North Carolina, aimed to help operators and regulators within the gambling industry better understand the typical US bettor – how and why they bet, what tools they use to manage their budget and what Responsible Gaming means to them. The findings will be revealed in the webinars and used to identify areas where Neosurf’s products can help operators provide a better user experience.
The research highlighted several aspects of payments and responsible gaming that bettors felt could be improved. Problems with payments remain an issue – 52% of respondents said that they’d experienced payment issues in the past year, and with over 50% depositing and withdrawing multiple times each month, there is a significant cost impact to the operators.
Additionally, respondents indicated they’d be in favour of using a service that could share pre-verified ID information with operators, with ease of use for new payment methods and seamless integration across multiple platforms identified as important factors in their choosing and remaining loyal to a single sports betting platform.
Sue Page, Neosurf CEO Americas, said: “It was important to us to gain a more detailed insight into the US sports bettor. We wanted to talk to the players and ask questions that no one else is asking, and through our collaboration with Betting Hero I’m delighted that we now have a comprehensive piece of research.
“Offering valuable insights into player habits – how and why they bet, the ongoing pain points they’re experiencing with payments and their thoughts on Responsible Gaming—we’ll be taking a deep dive into the results of the survey in our two-part webinar series starting at 10:00 ET on January 14th, and we encourage all US-focused operators and regulators to join us.”
