Museum of Gaming History Selects New Board Chairperson and Directors

The Museum of Gaming History (MoGH) has appointed Charles Kaplan of Long Island, New York City, to the position of Chairman of the Board for 2021-22. In addition, two new members were elected to the Board of Directors, Las Vegas residents Gregg Fisher and Pam Focazio. The Museum of Gaming History currently sponsors eight unique gaming memorabilia exhibits located in several Las Vegas casinos and museums, offering visitors and casino history enthusiasts a unique opportunity to view gaming through the lens of the city’s past. The MoGH is an educational project of the Casino Collectables Association, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) club devoted to the fast-growing hobby of collecting casino memorabilia.

Charles Kaplan is a professor, teaching courses in Information Technology at the State University of New York – Farmingdale. He is a founding member of the Museum of Gaming History and a life member of the Casino Collectibles Association. A frequent seminar speaker and a contributing author for the Casino Collectible News magazine, Kaplan is also the webmaster for the MoGH ChipGuide, a free photo database of over 276,000 gaming chips and memorabilia from worldwide casinos.

Gregg Fisher holds the current Guinness World Record for the world’s largest collection of casino chips and tokens – 818, each from different casinos. His attempt at a new world record 2,222 casino chips and tokens from separate casinos has been submitted to Guinness for approval. Fisher is retired after a varied career including entrepreneurial business management positions and professional sports participation.

For Pam Focazio, the MoGH is a family affair. Her husband, Jim Follis, is vice chairman of the MoGH, and she and their son, Casey, have been active volunteer supporters for decades. Her involvement has been all inclusive, from membership recruitment and promotions to exhibit set-up and maintenance. Focazio brings her experience in sales, marketing and small-business ownership to her new position.
