PA Lottery Reaches New Records for Sales, Profit and Payouts

 

The Pennsylvania Lottery has reached a sales record of $4.5 billion during the latest fiscal year and also saw record hike in profit and payouts. The Lottery saw a profit of $1.14 billion and paid out more than $2.9 billion in prizes to winner from July 1, 2018, to June 30.

“Benefiting older Pennsylvanians every day is more than just our mission statement. Families across the commonwealth rely on the vital senior programs that are funded by the Pennsylvania Lottery. That is why we are extremely proud to have set a new profit record while exceeding $1 billion in proceeds to benefit older adults for the eighth consecutive year,” Drew Svitko, executive director of PA Lottery said.

Sales in the 2018–19 fiscal year was up more than $302 million from the 2017–18 fiscal year, and profits were up by nearly $50 million over the same period. The PA Lottery’s previous highest profit was in 2015–16 when it reached $1.12 billion.

Prize money awarded increased by $193 million in 2018–19 and 70 players won $1 million or more. Sales commissions for more than 9700 PA Lottery retailers totalled $266 million.

In its first full fiscal year of use, PA iLottery sales, encompassing online games on computers, tablets and mobile devices, generated $381 million and $332 million in prizes were paid to iLottery winners.
