Las Vegas Problem Gambling Center officially dedicated to honor founder and gambling addiction pioneer, the late Dr. Robert Hunter
Offering hope, recovery and a way forward for thousands of people from all walks of life suffering from a gambling addiction, the Problem Gambling Center was officially dedicated and renamed to honor its founder, the late Dr. Robert Hunter, at a special event on June 26 that included members of the community and local leaders as well as the PGC board of directors, past and current clients, staff, and new Executive Director Stephanie Goodman.
Known as the worldâs leading gambling addiction specialist, Hunter (1955-2018) founded the Problem Gambling Center (PGC) in 1998 as the first nonprofit gambling addiction center. Helping those with gambling problems in Las Vegas, the gambling capital of the world, became the mission of the PGC under Hunterâs direction.
His program at the PGC consists of six weeks of intensive daily counseling, followed by four weeks of weekly sessions, and upon completion one-on-one therapy sessions as long as needed. As a result of his clinical methods, Hunterâs treatment program at the PGC operates with an 80-plus percent success rate for recovery.
Recognizing Hunterâs significant impact, city of Las Vegas Councilman Bob Coffin presented a proclamation from Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman that declared June 26 as Dr. Robert Hunter International Problem Gambling Center Day. It said in part: âDr. Hunterâs efforts in the area of gambling addiction have assisted individuals and their families both in Las Vegas and internationally. Best wishes to the Center as it continues to offer services and important work in his memory.â
At the event, Connie Jones, board member for the now Dr. Robert Hunter International Problem Gambling Center, echoed the sentiments: ââDr. Hunter was the world expert on Problem Gambling helping our community through his compassion, understanding and science. We are looking to continue his legacy by alleviating the stigma associated with Problem Gambling and helping as many people as we can who are affected by this debilitating addiction.â
Hunter left a legacy of treating more problem gamblers than anyone in the world. The PGC continues his work and methods to help hundreds of Nevadans every year overcome the often invisible addiction of problem gambling and turn their lives around â regardless of their ability to pay for services. And the PGC helps not only those individuals who have gone through the treatment program, but also the family, friends and employers who are also affected by the actions of the problem gambler. Neosurf & Betting Hero to reveal results of their in-depth study into US online gambling and payment habits in exclusive two-part webinar series
Neosurf, the globally trusted provider of swift and secure cash-to-digital payment solutions, has announced it will be sharing the findings of a recent study into the online betting habits, preferences and frustrations of US players in an exclusive two-part webinar series beginning on January 14th.
Neosurf commissioned the research via Betting Hero â a leading US-based iGaming portal with expertise in casino, sports betting and DFS. The webinars will see Neosurf CEO Americas, Sue Page, Betting Heroâs Co-Founder and President, Jai Maw, and Senior Director of Product and Research, Ernie Ropas, dive into the reportâs key findings and discuss what some of the more surprising results could mean for operators.
The survey, which featured respondents from New Jersey, Colorado and North Carolina, aimed to help operators and regulators within the gambling industry better understand the typical US bettor â how and why they bet, what tools they use to manage their budget and what Responsible Gaming means to them. The findings will be revealed in the webinars and used to identify areas where Neosurfâs products can help operators provide a better user experience.
The research highlighted several aspects of payments and responsible gaming that bettors felt could be improved. Problems with payments remain an issue â 52% of respondents said that theyâd experienced payment issues in the past year, and with over 50% depositing and withdrawing multiple times each month, there is a significant cost impact to the operators.
Additionally, respondents indicated theyâd be in favour of using a service that could share pre-verified ID information with operators, with ease of use for new payment methods and seamless integration across multiple platforms identified as important factors in their choosing and remaining loyal to a single sports betting platform.
Sue Page, Neosurf CEO Americas, said: âIt was important to us to gain a more detailed insight into the US sports bettor. We wanted to talk to the players and ask questions that no one else is asking, and through our collaboration with Betting Hero Iâm delighted that we now have a comprehensive piece of research.
âOffering valuable insights into player habits â how and why they bet, the ongoing pain points theyâre experiencing with payments and their thoughts on Responsible Gamingâweâll be taking a deep dive into the results of the survey in our two-part webinar series starting at 10:00 ET on January 14th, and we encourage all US-focused operators and regulators to join us.â
