Plaza Hotel & Casino welcomes inaugural demolition derby event to Core Arena
The Plaza Hotel & Casino is proud to host the inaugural Casino Battle Royal Demolition Derby in Las Vegas from Stirrin Dirt Racing, the largest demolition derby promoter in the west, at the Core Arena, March 29 and 30.
The family-friendly 2-day event will begin at 3 p.m. each day and run two car classes: Mini Cars (80’s – 90’s front wheel drive foreign and domestic cars) and Stock Class (stock built old Detroit iron cars). Tickets starting at $30 can be purchased online and room packages are also available.
“We are excited to welcome Stirrin Dirt Racing to the Core Arena at the Plaza,” said Jonathan Jossel, Plaza Hotel & Casino CEO. “We saw the first 100 car and driver registration slots fill up in less than three minutes with competitors from all across the United States and Canada. So, we have no doubt that this event will fill our new outdoor arena to capacity, bringing thousands of people downtown for this fun, action-packed event.”
“The Casino Battle Royal combines the rough and tumble world of rodeo with the speed and excitement of a racing event, all mashed up into a heavy metal, full throttle, twisted steel, legal road rage event at the Plaza in the heart of downtown Las Vegas,” said Johnny Gullo, principal partner, Stirrin Dirt Racing.
Stirrin’ Dirt Racing is a production company created by Gullo and Jim “Gumby” Simko in 1999 to raise the level of the sport of demolition derby by increasing the payouts to the drivers. Over the years, Stirrin’ Dirt Racing has expanded into producing Monster Truck events and music concerts, providing stunt driving and vehicles to movies, music videos, photo shoots and television shows, such as Top Gear, Dr. Who, and Johnny Christ. It has also raised more than $1 million for charity through its projects and work with the American Dream Foundation.
Stirrin’ Dirt Racing drivers including Johnny Gullo #17, Gumby #000, Jeri Gullo #17, Dalton Gullo #6, and Steve “Scooter” Carroll #06 are currently part of the reality series Kings of Crash on the Velocity channel. Stirrin’ Dirt Racing has also partnered with Mayhem Racing for an upcoming reality show on MAV TV airing in the spring of 2019.
Each night, a free After Party will be held under the Plaza’s iconic dome beginning at 7 p.m. All ages are welcome to the party that will offer music, food and drink specials, and wrestling presented by Snake Pit Pro Wrestling Academy with a special guest appearance by Juventud “the Juice” Guerrera.
