Merkur Gaming Peru Celebrates 10th Anniversary at PGS 2023
The overwhelming opinion, as expressed by both visitors and exhibitors, was that the 2023 edition of the Peru Gaming Show was that this had been a truly great event: perhaps the best ever in the 20th running of the Lima based gaming B2B presentation. And the 20th anniversary of PGS was also a landmark event for Merkur; this being held in the 10th anniversary year of Merkur Gaming Peru, now firmly established as one of the top gaming brands in Peru.
Boasting a brand-new design for what was once again the biggest exhibitor booth space at PGS Merkur displayed a wide range of products from their portfolio. The Linked Jackpots Link Zone 2, Solar Link, and the Egyptian themed Five, where five cash pot towers wait to be filled during the respin feature, were joined by Merkur Mystery; the latest star in the Merkur portfolio and a hit feature that has proved to be extremely popular with Peruvian players.
Merkur Gaming Peruâs general manager Ronald Diaz mentioned Merkur Mystery specifically as an important product for his team. âThe Merkur multigames are consistent winners that have a track record of success here in Peru. With the addition of Merkur Mystery we now have an even more attractive proposition for players and a huge attraction for operatorsâ gaming floors.â
The Lima based team were joined and assisted by exhibition specialists from Europe as well as representatives from the other LatAm Merkur subsidiary companies across the region. Also a big hit with visitors to the Merkur booth in Lima was the now traditional superb lounge area that offered visitors the chance to relax, hold one-to-one conversations with Merkur team members and enjoy the top class food and beverage hospitality that has become one of the star attractions of recent years at PGS.
Ronald Diaz said: âPeru is well known for its warmth and hospitality and every year we recreate that environment at PGS. Our catering team worked tremendously hard right through the show and I know for sure that our visiting customers really enjoyed and appreciated their efforts.â
Featuring alongside Merkur at PGS were the sister Merkur companies GeWeTe, the famous cash handling experts, and the online gaming maestros edict who demonstrated their innovations in line with their descriptive slogan âOnline Gambling: made in Germanyâ.
Without doubt this 20th anniversary presentation of Peru Gaming Show was a great success and with dates for the showâs 21st edition in June 2024 already announced it will certainly continue to be a leading event on the LatAm gaming business landscape.
Ronald Diaz added: âPGS 2023 has been a huge success for us, not just here in Peru but also in terms of the brand value of Merkur across Latin America and beyond. I would like to thank our entire team for their hard work, from build-up right through to breakdown, and also give thanks to the many customers and business partners who spent valuable time with us. Merkur had high expectations of this yearâs PGS and as the show closes I am very pleased to say that all of them were fulfilled and in fact exceeded.â

EPIC retain SBCâs Player Protection award for a third consecutive year
EPIC Global Solutions have completed a hat-trick of wins at the prestigious SBC Awards North America, having been named as the eventâs âPlayer Protection Service Provider of the Yearâ for a third year in a row.
The globally-leading specialists in mitigating gambling-related harm were recognised once again at the New York ceremony, at an event that acknowledges excellence across all aspects of the gambling industry across North America.
EPIC provides a range of consultancy, education and training services around recognising signs of problem gambling to a range of sectors across the continent, with a particular focus on working with sports organisations, gambling operators and gambling industry regulators.
The companyâs work in conjunction with the NCAA and Entain Foundation US â which has seen over 55,000 student-athletes and staff at more than 200 US college campuses educated on gambling-related harm in the past three years â was highlighted within the nomination for the award, and drew praise from EPICâs CEO and founder Paul Buck, who explained:
âThere are now 38 states where sports gambling is legalised. Gambling is growing, so the level of harm that will come will also grow.
âRecognising player protection at events like this wasnât happening five or ten years ago, but itâs becoming an increasingly bigger issue and weâre glad to be at the front of that and hope to remain that way for the next five years and beyond.
âWe wouldnât be able to do this without the lived experience facilitators who go out there and tell their stories day in, day out, all around the country in each of the 52 states that we work in.
âIâd also like to make some special mentions to the NCAA, who work with us massively on the front foot on a topic which is becoming bigger and bigger within the student-athlete population, and the Entain Foundation US, who have been there helping to fund programmes like ours for the past few years.â
Lived experience is at the heart of everything that EPIC does, with the lessons taken from the harm experienced earlier in life by around half of its current workforce being the driving force behind the companyâs mission and the knowledge that informs the programmes it delivers.
Therefore, Buck is incredibly proud of the team contribution that has once again been recognised via the award at SBCâs showpiece event in the US. He added:
âItâs always nice just to be here and spread our message and meet friends, clients and stakeholders, but to come away and win this award three times on the trot is fantastic.
âIt just shows that the level of work we do and the impact that weâre having is growing and growing, year by year, which makes us even more proud to win it. Iâm so incredibly proud, not just of the work we do, but of the people who work within EPIC.â

Court Decision Upholds iGaming Ontario’s Model
iGaming Ontario has welcomed the decision of the Ontario Superior Court, which found that iGaming Ontarioâs model is consistent with the Criminal Code and that iGaming Ontario is conducting and managing igaming in the province.
âWe have always been confident in our model and are pleased that the court has ruled in our favour, and that Ontarians can continue to play with confidence in our regulated igaming market,â said Martha Otton, Executive Director of iGaming Ontario.
âOntarioâs model meets the requirements and contributes to the public good by protecting players, their data and their funds, while helping to fund priority public services in Ontario, and bringing well-paid, high-tech jobs and economic development to Ontario,â Otton added.
In dismissing the application brought forward by the Mohawk Council of KahnawĂ :ke (MCK), the Superior Court found that iGaming Ontario is the âoperating mindâ behind Ontarioâs competitive igaming market in accordance with the conduct and manage requirements of the Criminal Code.
iGaming Ontario will continue to conduct and manage igaming as it has since the launch of the regulated market on April 4, 2022.
