NBA 2K League Season 3 Week 3 Preview

MAMA’S STILL THE MAN: Blazer5 Gaming point guard Nidal “Mama Im Dat Man” Nasser was named NBA 2K League Player of the Week for Week 2 of the 2020 NBA 2K League season. Highlighted by a performance of 38 points and eight assists against Lakers Gaming, the reigning NBA 2K League MVP led Blazer5 Gaming to a 2-0 record in its first week of the season.

RAMO’S RETURN: Charismatic big man Ramo Radoncic makes his season debut with Pistons GT in Week 3. Radoncic was reacquired by Detroit via trade during the offseason after spending one season with Pacers Gaming. The Brooklyn-native was named a 2018 NBA 2K League finalist in his first campaign with Pistons GT. Radoncic and Pistons GT will visit Wizards District Gaming tonight at 9pm/et and T-Wolves Gaming tomorrow at 7pm/et.

TV TIME: ESPN2 will broadcast two additional nights of the NBA 2K League – Friday, May 22 and Tuesday, May 26. Games will begin at 7 p.m. ET.

STRIVE FOR FIVE: There are three teams who currently have a 4-0 record to start the 2020 season – Mavs Gaming, Raptors Uprising GC and Warriors Gaming Squad. Led by Artreyo “Dimez” Boyd, Mavs Gaming will look to extend its streak on Wednesday, May 20 at 7 p.m. ET when they host Hornets Venom GT. Kenneth “Kenny Got Work” Hailey and Gerald “Sick One” Knapp’s incredible start to the season has propelled Raptors Uprising GC as they look to improve to 5-0 tonight when they host Knicks Gaming at 7 p.m. ET. Warriors Gaming Squad will utilize its efficient offense and stout defense to reach the 5-0 mark when they host Lakers Gaming tonight at 9 p.m. ET.

MEMPHIS MEETS MIAMI: Two busy teams in the offseason, Grizz Gaming and Heat Check Gaming, will meet on Friday, May 22 at 9:30 p.m. ET for the NBA 2K League “Game of the Week.” Memphis acquired 2018 NBA 2K League Champion and 2019 rebounding leader Dayvon “Goofy757” Curry. Heat Check Gaming, the 2018 NBA 2K League Finals runner-up, retooled its roster by acquiring five new players in the 2020 NBA 2K League Draft Delivered by Panera Bread. Grizz Gaming’s Meyhar “AuthenticAfrican” Ahmed-Hassan holds the record for most points scored in a single NBA 2K League game with 84 while Heat Check Gaming’s Juan “Hotshot” Gonzalez holds the record for third-most points scored in a single game with 54.

CREAM CITY CONVERGENCE ESPORTS TOURNAMENT SELECTED AS CAPCOM PRO TOUR EVENT

Bucks Gaming’s Cream City Convergence Esports Tournament has been selected as a Capcom Pro Tour event, becoming one of just three tournaments in North America chosen to be a qualifier for the prestigious Capcom Cup.

The Capcom Cup is an annual Street Fighter 6 competition, hosted by video game developer and esports organizer Capcom, with a $1 million first place prize. Each year, Capcom selects a small number of tournaments worldwide to serve as Capcom Pro Tour events, with the winning players from each event qualifying for the Capcom Cup. As one of the tournaments selected by Capcom for the honor this year, Cream City Convergence will become the first esports event run by an NBA team to work with a major esports organizer.

Top-ranked Street Fighter 6 players will compete at Cream City Convergence when it returns for its second year on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Baird Center. In addition to Street Fighter 6, this year’s tournament will also have brackets for Tekken 8; Super Smash Bros Ultimate; Super Smash Bros Melee; and Guilty Gear: Strive.
