Delivered through the company’s Momentum ecosystem, the technology overhaul brings together Scientific Games’ advanced SYMPHONY central gaming system, WAVE Contour retail point-of-sale terminals, the SG PAM player account management system and advanced logistics supported by the company’s patented SciTrak technology and gem|Suite lottery retail management system. Scientific Games also implemented the SG Content Hub, offering Lotto New Zealand a portfolio of premier digital games from SG Studios and other partner studios.

The complex switchover from Lotto New Zealand’s legacy systems involved multiple database migrations and third-party system integrations. Scientific Games worked closely with Lotto New Zealand and its retailers over the past two years to carefully plan the transition, ensuring a smooth go-live and positioning the Lottery for future omnichannel growth and player-focused innovation.

Jason Delamore, Lotto New Zealand CEO, said, “We’ve modernized our digital and retail platforms, together with the way we’re delivering game entertainment. This sets the stage for more transformation and exceptional player experiences for years to come. On behalf of our players and retailers, and most importantly good cause beneficiaries throughout New Zealand, we are excited to be well-positioned for the future. Scientific Games’ collaboration with our teams throughout this enormous undertaking has made our tech upgrade a win for our customers, our retailers and NZ Inc through our important community contributions.”

Lotto New Zealand’s purpose is to provide safe games that allow New Zealanders to play and win while contributing money back to New Zealand communities.

Patrick McHugh, Scientific Games CEO, said, “We commend Lotto New Zealand’s leadership and teams for their future-forward vision and thank all our Scientific Games technologists and project team members around the globe who worked diligently to plan and execute this systems conversion. The technology upgrade for Lotto New Zealand was truly a global effort and inspiring for the many projects currently underway for Scientific Games lottery customers around the world.”

The Momentum ecosystem is supporting lotteries across North America, Europe and Oceania, delivering connected technologies and services that modernize operations, enhance player engagement and maximize returns to good causes.

Scientific Games tapped longtime Lotto New Zealand partner Datacom, the country’s largest IT consultants, to roll out point-of-sale terminals at retail outlets, provide data center hosting services for the central system infrastructure and support the company with field services, maintenance and repair.

Greg Davidson, Datacom Group Chief Executive Officer, said, “As the local partner providing on the ground support, we’re pleased to have supported Lotto New Zealand and Scientific Games in delivering this major technology upgrade. This project reflects the strength of collaboration between our teams and the shared commitment to delivering secure, scalable systems that serve both retailers and players.”

Scientific Games has served as Lotto New Zealand’s exclusive provider of Instant Kiwi games since 1989.

Serving 150 lotteries in 50 countries, Scientific Games is the world’s largest lottery games company, fastest growing lottery systems provider and a leading provider of digital lottery solutions. The company is one of the first lottery companies globally certified by the World Lottery Association as a Responsible Gaming Supplier.
