Detroit Casinos Report $98.9M in September Revenue

 

The Michigan Gaming Control Board has reported that Detroit’s three casinos—MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, and Hollywood Casino at Greektown—collectively generated $98.9 million in revenue for September 2025.

Table games and slot machines accounted for $98.2 million of the monthly total, while retail sports betting contributed $747,425.

September 2025 Market Share

• MGM Grand Detroit: 47%

• MotorCity Casino: 30%

• Hollywood Casino at Greektown: 23%

Table Games and Slot Machine Revenue

Revenue from table games and slots decreased by 3.0% compared with September 2024 and 7.1% from August 2025. From January 1 through September 30, combined table games and slots revenue was down 1.4% year-over-year.

Casino-specific revenues compared to September 2024 were:

• MGM Grand Detroit: $45.9 million, down 3.8%

• MotorCity Casino: $28.9 million, down 7.2%

• Hollywood Casino at Greektown: $23.4 million, up 4.5%

The three casinos paid $8.0 million in state gaming taxes in September 2025, down from $8.2 million in September 2024. They also submitted $16.1 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit.

Retail Sports Betting Revenue

In September 2025, the casinos reported a combined retail sports betting handle of $13.5 million, generating $775,903 in gross receipts. Qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR) from retail sports betting decreased by 1.1% from September 2024 and 39.8% from August 2025.

QAGR by casino:

• MGM Grand Detroit: $394,500

• MotorCity Casino: $589,142

• Hollywood Casino at Greektown: negative ($236,217)

The casinos paid $37,182 in state taxes from retail sports betting revenue and submitted $45,444 in wagering taxes to the City of Detroit.

Fantasy Contests

Fantasy contest operators reported $756,745 in adjusted revenues for September 2025 and paid $63,567 in taxes.
