U.S. Travel Association Appoints Bill Hornbuckle as National Chair of its Board of Directors

The U.S. Travel Association has appointed William (Bill) J. Hornbuckle, Chief Executive Officer and President of MGM Resorts International, as National Chair of its board of directors. His appointment to a two-year term was formalized with a membership vote.
“I’m grateful for this honor and excited to be joining U.S. Travel at such an important time. America remains at the forefront of travel and hospitality, and it’s vital that we do all we can to keep our industry and economy thriving. We are entering a period of once-in-a-lifetime events and opportunities unlike anything our country has seen in recent years. I’m proud to join this storied organization and look forward to helping the industry and the country succeed,” Bill Hornbuckle said.
“We are grateful for Bill’s leadership and expertise as U.S. Travel pursues a bold agenda of growth and improvements to the traveler experience. Bill’s prior leadership of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board provides him a unique understanding of key issues and the levers that need to be pulled to achieve success in Washington,” Geoff Freeman, President and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association, said.
Hornbuckle will succeed Chris Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton, whose term as national chair has concluded.
“We express our sincere thanks to Chris Nassetta for his outstanding leadership and contributions during his tenure as our national chair. Chris shaped and sped our transition into a focused and sophisticated trade association,” Freeman said.
Hornbuckle will work with association leaders to enact industry priorities, including maximizing a mega-decade of events like the 2025 Ryder Cup, 2026 World Cup and 2028 Summer Olympics.

Bettors in Arizona wagered approximately $898 million on sports in November of 2024, according to a new report by the Arizona Department of Gaming. This represents an approximate 26% increase when compared to November of 2023.
The state collected approximately $5.7 million in privilege fees in the month.

Indian Gaming Association Introduces TribalBond Connections Program

This innovative program will feature a dynamic “speed networking” format, aimed at creating efficient, valuable interactions and personalized experiences for participants.
As the largest gathering of tribal leaders and casino executives in the country, the Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention is the meeting place where the community gathers to learn, network, and create new connections. TribalBond was created with tribal casino executives in mind, designed to bring operators and solution providers together through structured meeting sessions that cater specifically to their unique needs. By facilitating targeted networking opportunities, TribalBond empowers attendees to build connections, share insights, and unlock new opportunities. A special focus will be put on equipping solution providers with knowledge and insights on how to effectively engage and build long-lasting relationships with the tribal gaming industry.
The Indian Gaming Association has tapped into the extensive industry knowledge and experience of Frances Alvarez, to lead this program. Alvarez is a highly respected leader in the tribal gaming industry, with over 24 years of service. She remains engaged and influential in Indian Country through her roles as Chairwoman of the Tribal Gaming Protection Network, President of the National Native American Hall of Fame, and Gaming Commissioner for the Wilton Rancheria Gaming Commission. In these capacities, she builds strong relationships and fosters opportunities for collaborative success. Through her firm, Rezonate LLC, Alvarez demonstrates her unwavering commitment to service while actively working to reshape the conversation surrounding tribal relations.
