Tom is a managing director in our Deal Advisory & Strategy practice and provides merger and acquisition advisory services for both strategic and financial buyers. He has over 15 years of public accounting experience in advisory and assurance. Prior to joining Deal Advisory, Tom spent his first five years in a Big Four audit practice. He has assisted private companies, publicly listed U.S., and foreign clients with financial reporting and technical accounting issues, as well as the implementation of and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 requirements (“SOX”).
Professional and Industry Experience
Since 2007, Tom has specialized in financial due diligence and advises his strategic corporate and private equity clients in buy-side and sell-side transactions. Tom assists his clients throughout the full deal cycle and leverages our full suite of service lines to appropriately advise clients and optimize transactions.
Tom leads the US Casino & Gaming industry team and is also part of the broader Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (“TMT”) industry group, primarily serving Technology and Business Services clients. Additionally, Tom has deal experience and is well versed in diligence issues across other industries, such as: Travel & Hospitality, Chemicals, Industrial Manufacturing, Consumer Products, Distribution, Life Science / Medical Devices, Aerospace & Defense, and Logistics.
Tom has been involved with gaming clients for over 13 years. As the US Casino & Gaming industry lead, he is responsible for executing financial due diligence and is also part of other aspects of KPMG’s delivery, communications, and utilization as a subject matter expert. Tom has gaming experience across a broad range of gaming areas including Casinos, social/digital, horse racing, and other online and gaming technology. Early in Tom’s professional years he led the Tropicana AC audit team and was involved in the development of the SOX internal control methodology and regulatory audits for the Casino Reinvestment & Development Authority (“CRDA”) in New Jersey. In addition to this audit and regulatory experience, Tom has M&A experience within the casino, leisure/hospitality, and technology sectors. This enables him to assist clients with various perspectives on the gaming market and advise clients in a multitude of areas, while also connecting clients to specialists across KPMG.
Tom leads our KPMG Casino & Gaming industry team in the US and also advises clients within the technology and consumer market sectors. Tom has taken his multi-faceted experience in working with US casino operators and other leisure clients to assist the company’s evaluate strategic positioning as the US gaming markets evolve and considering sports and online expansion. These market disruptors have caused even more focus on potential profitability and Tom spearheaded the development of a data analytics platform to assist company’s as they assess how best to navigate their path forward.
