Boyd to Lay Off Staff Across the US

Boyd Gaming, which owns 29 properties in 10 states, has announced it will be laying off a number of furloughed employees across the US.

The firm has said that due to closures and restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic recovery will be slow. As a result, Boyd Gaming has confirmed that an unspecified number of furloughed employees will not return to work. It was previously reported that 2500 employees in Nevada could be laid off.

“While we have been able to reopen most of our properties, we are still facing significant restrictions on our business, and visitation levels remain well below pre-pandemic levels,” the company said in a statement.

The company has about 10,000 employees in Nevada and another 14,300 across the US in properties in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
