Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Announces Construction Of New Sports Book
Atlantic City’s market-leading resort will invest over $11 million into the addition of a new bar and sports wagering experience
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa announced today it will begin construction of a new venue that will integrate an entertaining bar experience with sports wagering. Adding more than $11 million in development to Borgata’s resort, the destination bar will make its anticipated debut this summer.

Borgata made history last June when it became the first Atlantic City casino to accept a legal sports wager under new sports betting regulations in New Jersey. The historic wager came just three days after NJ Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill passed unanimously by the State Legislature, creating a regulated environment where licensed casinos may establish legal sports books.
Since accepting that first inaugural bet, Borgata launched the playMGM NJ Sports mobile sports-betting app in New Jersey. The Mechoopda Indian Tribe has announced that the Mechoopda Economic Gaming Authority (MEGA) Board has made the decision to suspend operations at Mechoopda Casino. The final day of operations will be Friday, January 31, 2025.
The Mechoopda Casino says this decision comes after months of deliberation and efforts to address the various challenges affecting the casino’s operations.
Dennis Ramirez, Tribal Chairman of the Mechoopda Indian Tribe, said: “Suspending operations at the Casino is a heart-wrenching decision that affects not only our Tribe but also our valued employees, customers, and the surrounding community. While this chapter is closing, our commitment to the Casino’s long-term vision remains steadfast. For over 25 years, this project has been a cornerstone of our economic development goals, and we will continue to work toward its future reopening.”
